Why do we still have fleas in the house?
Fleas spend 90% off their life away from the animal, In carpets and soft furnishings as eggs and lava.
Treating just your pet will get rid of the fleas the animal has at that time but not the eggs and lava that are developing around the house. This means that re-infestation is inevitable unless you take steps to protect your house as well as your pet Fleas in their infant stages can lay dormant for several months meaning that one infestation of fleas can lead to several infestations for the pet.
There are several options for household flea control:
- Flea Sprays
- Flea Powders
- Fumers
Flea Sprays:
Flea sprays are one of the widest used options with many variations available, Sprays are easy to use and most can cover a average house with a single can and some are even safe for around fish tanks.
Flea Powders:
Flea powders have been around for a long time and are easy to use but can be messy and don't offer the same level of ongoing protection that a flea spray would do as the powder can be hoovered up
Fumers:
Fumers are a highly effective way of eradicating infestations fast. Fumers engulf the whole room in a fog of pest killing smoke that eradicates 99% of all pests in one go. Fumers are sometimes used by Landlords to prepare a building for a new resident and ensure that their are no pest problems.
With frequent treatment of both pets and homes then fleas should be a thing of the past for your household.
